Latest Lulu NEWS

UNBELIEVABLE! We had an enormous 20,000 hits to this site in four hours yesterday 28th April 2004. The site was hammered to the point that I as webmaster could not get on myself. Our server, (InterNet Australis.com.au) was caught off guard, and we appologise for this, but all is in order now we have moved the site to a much larger band width to cope with the load.

We had literally tens of hundreds of emails from across the globe, well-wishers, to the Richards family congratulating them of Lulu's award status and how they all wished for a roo like Lulu.

I will at some point put the messages on this site, as the recognitions and wonderful testimonials need to be read by all. Len called me last night in tears, he is most gratefully thankful, of all the messages you guys sent, and he/we will try to answer all of them personally, please be patient on the replies, as you can imagine there are hundreds to attend to.

*Please note - online purchasing now includes the freight with your orders.*

Lulu the Kangaroo has received the National Animal Valor Award
for saving a human life, the only native kangaroo to receive this prestigious award.

Lulu the Kangaroo will not be attending the Million Paws Walk on the 16 May 04 at Albert Park Lake in Melbourne, as some people have suggested. Can you imagine how this would freak the animal out with thousands of people, not to mention all the dogs, cats and other types of animals that may attend. Lulu is a free roaming Eastern Grey Kangaroo, she is not domesticated, or locked up, but has a tremendous affiliation with the Len Richards family. AND, on a cold day she will come inside the ranch and enjoy herself by a nice warm fire.

Len Richards has also finalised an unpublished, 33,000 word document.
This document has the true accounts and events from when Lulu was rescued
as a joey and then raised by the Richards family, of which includes the pictures and
the outstanding, extraordinary life saving events of Lulu the Kangaroo.

LULU SKIPS INTO MARKETING CAMPAIGN by Chris Buckingham

Lulu the life-saving kangaroo is to feature in the Latrobe Valley Ministerial Taskforce Marketing Advisory Panel’s Marketing and Communication Campaign as a mascot for a local knowledge quiz for primary school students.

Lulu has made international headlines following the eastern grey kangaroo’s heroics in alerting a Tanjil South family to their father’s serious injuries after he was hit by a falling tree branch.

Marketing Advisory Panel Chairperson, Richard Hancock, said Lulu’s efforts warranted her inclusion in the marketing campaign.

“Let’s be honest, Lulu has generated a great deal of positive publicity for the Latrobe Valley. More importantly, we are a close-knit community and we all help each other out where we can – it just so happens that this time the helper has a tail and a craving for her favorite biscuit. “In fact, the heroics of this kangaroo demonstrate to the world that Latrobe Valley is a clean, green and naturally beautiful location – we’re so much more than power generators, ”said Mr. Hancock.

Lulu’s owner and grateful recipient of the kangaroo’s life-saving efforts, Mr. Len Richards, said he was glad his savior would be recognised for her efforts. “She’s a terrific kangaroo and I guess some people would be surprised to learn that there are hundreds of them hopping around the Latrobe Valley. There is no shortage of luscious grass and clean air for Lulu and her native friends to enjoy, ”said Mr. Richards.

Lulu’s image will feature in a quiz designed for local primary school students that will require them to undertake internet based research on the Latrobe Valley’s natural beauty, proud history, diverse community and substantial business sector.

“We are all really proud of Lulu – she represents the determined can-do spirit that is so prominent in the Latrobe Valley and it is important that our kids see that spirit in action, ” said Mr. Hancock.

The Marketing and Communication Campaign follows extensive local consultation and outlines a vision for the Latrobe Valley. It has been developed to build and promote a unified, positive and proud image of the Latrobe Valley and will be unveiled at a launch in late October.
